Prevention
The Department of Children and Families' goal is to enhance prevention and early intervention efforts throughout Wisconsin. We believe if we spend a concerted effort on prevention and early intervention services that we would have a tremendous impact on child abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency, teen pregnancy, and poverty. We want to help families overcome the struggles that limit their ability to care adequately for their children before they come to the attention of the child protective services or juvenile justice systems. If we wait for children to be harmed...or if we wait for a child to engage in unsafe and risky behaviors...we have waited too long.
